Davis Water News

Where our water comes from

You’ve seen the bottles of “premium bottled water” made from molded plastic reminiscent of the glaciers from which their contents are purported to be freshly melted. You’ve paid a premium for fresh mountain spring water fetched yesterday from a cheerfully babbling brook. You’re probably wondering, then, where we get our water, and how we can deliver it in bulk so affordably. When a gallon of water costs more in some places than a gallon of gas, swimming pools must be about to go extinct, right?

Not exactly.

When you buy that $4 bottle of water at an amusement park, it’s extremely unlikely that your money is paying for the actual water. What you’re really buying is access to 12 to 20 ounces of water from one specific source – and all the branding, marketing, transportation, and packaging it took to get it to you. That’s why you can pay for bottled water or get a free glass of water at the same restaurant. You have to pay more to get specific water. We’re not in that business.

Exactly the water you need, when you need it.

When you have bulk potable water delivered for your home, business, or pool, you’re still not paying for just the water. Our water comes from the same local municipal water sources that feed our homes and businesses. It’s tested, well regulated, and safe. The reason we’ve been in business for over 30 years is that we deliver access to clean water in places where it’s hard or impossible to get otherwise. No one would (or should) ever pay to have 6,000 1-gallon plastic jugs of bottled glacier water delivered to an industrial site. That’s why we’ve been able to build a business delivering clean, healthy water 6,000 gallons at a time right where people need it most. That’s a service worth paying for!

Trucks and pumps and hoses -- oh my!

Access is the most important part of our service, and we’ve invested a great deal to build a system that’s both reliable and efficient. Once one of our high-capacity trucks arrives at your location, any amount of water can be delivered without interruption over any amount of time. Our high-efficiency pumps can transfer 6,000 gallons of water in just 15 minutes. Each of our trucks is equipped with 300 feet of clean hose for delivering water in all sorts of circumstances, and there’s a lot more where that came from. In 3 decades, we’ve never encountered a situation we couldn’t overcome with a combination of hoses, pumps, expertise, and creativity.
